Get the mods from Nexus if you can, the tend to be better. Use LOOT for sorting and don't load more than 10 mods at a time. Loading lots of mods at once can confuse Skyrim.
Mods won't run right. Also loading only a few mods at a time let's you solve conflicts between mods easier. I'm running with a bashed patch taking it down to , and after a huge amount of tedious tweeking and fiddling, I can finally play crash free. I run mods, plugins. I have mods in mod organizer. Most I have gotten to is a little over Haas View Profile View Posts. I've got mods installed, run and plugins. The most I ever had was around I was waiting on that, you need to add 7 more so you have more mods installed to Skyrim than I have in MO.

I will also interject that Mods that replace stuff for the Menus cannot normally just be "deactivated" as they physically replace what they are intended to so disabling the Mod just leaves an empty space.
